CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services, also commonly known as the Community Services Course, is suitable for individuals who want to obtain the latest nationally recognised qualification that reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management, and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.

Our course is suitable for International Students.

Course Duration:

This course is designed to be completed over 52 weeks (including 12 weeks of holidays).

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend approximately 1,215 hours depending on your existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

Delivery Method:

This course is delivered via Blended Learning. Blended Learning consists of both face-to-face classroom sessions and online sessions.

Students will be assessed through:

  • Written assessments
  • Tasks based on simulated scenarios/ case studies (virtual workplace)
  • Observations via demonstration, presentations and/or role plays
  • Observations via workplace/vocational placement

Note: Students are required to complete 200 hours of mandatory work placement. Refer to the “Work Placement” Section for further details.

Work Placement

A total of 200 Hours of mandatory industry work placement is required to be completed for this qualification.

Generally, you will be responsible for finding a Vocational Placement provider. However, you may be supported by the Vocational Placement Coordinator in finding one. The Training Manager and Work Placement Co-ordinator will discuss the best options for placement with every student to find a location and timing that suits the student. Where the student is already working in an appropriate workplace, it is recommended that this facility would be best for gathering the workplace evidence for the units across the identified 200 hours. There may be some flexibility in the timing of workplace evidence collected for these existing workers who have employer support for this course.

Vigil International College will provide all work placement support resources to our students.

Work Placement Requirements:

All students entering a workplace facility in the aged care industry, must have:

  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance
  • Current Vaccination/Immunization Certificate and Proof of Immunity (Highly Recommended).

There are no formal pre-requisites required to enter this course.

However, Vigil International College requires students to meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Have basic computer skill
  • Hold a Current Student Visa
  • Have sound language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • If you are from an English-speaking Background, you must have completed at least Year 10 English, or equivalent.
  • If you are from a non-English speaking background, you must provide one of the following, as evidence, of upper intermediate proficiency in English:
    • IELTS total band score of at least 6.0 with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent.
    • TOEFL IBT, Pearson Test of English, Cambridge English Advanced with scores equivalent to IELTS 6.0 and no less than 5.5 in each band.
    • The English test must have been taken within two years before the application is made.

Vigil International College will provide students with all Learning & Assessment resources required to complete this course.

However, students must ensure that they have access to the following resources:
