This qualification reflects the role of building professionals who apply knowledge of structural principles, risk and financial management, estimating, preparing and administering building and construction contracts, selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality and managing construction work in building projects including residential and commercial with the following limitations:

Residential construction limited to National Construction Code Class 1 and 10 buildings to a maximum of 3 storeys.
Commercial construction limited to National Construction Code Class 2 to 9 buildings, Type C and B construction.

The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have access to a live building and construction workplace to meet the requirements detailed in the Assessment Requirements of core unit CPCCBC4008 Supervise communication and administration processes for building and construction projects.

Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

Builder licensing varies across States and Territories and requirements additional to the attainment of this qualification may be required.

This course is designed to be completed over 52 weeks (including holidays).

Expected Study Hours: Learners are expected to undertake 20 hours of training per week, in addition, students are required to complete self-directed learning hours to review learning materials, prepare for assessments, and participate in training activities.

Delivery Method:

This method of delivery is Blended (Face to Face & Online).

There are no pre-requisites required to enter this training program for CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).

However, Vigil International College requires students to meet the following criteria:

must be 18 years or older
Have sound language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills, at least Year 10 English or equivalent
Must hold a valid visa to study
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
Additionally, international students must have an IELTS score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent test results no more than 2 years old. English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
- Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country
- Successful completion of an English Placement Test, General English Upper Intermediate Level, or equivalent IBT, PTE Academic or CAE
- Satisfactorily completed Vigil International College’s Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy assessment

Students pay 50% fees and return all signed documents back to Vigil either directly or through their Agent.

Confirmation of Enrolment

Vigil issues Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE).

Student Visa & Arrangements

Students should then Finalise their Student Visa Conditions (with DOHA) and make travel / accommodation arrangements.

Student Arrival & Orientation

Students arrive in Sydney and attend International Student Orientation at Vigil.

This course is aimed at both international students from various countries and domestic students eager to develop their carpentry skills and knowledge to enhance their career opportunities or pursue further study. These students are typically aged between 18 and 35 and may not have prior work or study experience in building and construction.

The course is open to both onshore international students currently residing in Australia and offshore students applying from abroad. Most international students speak English as a second language, and they must meet the required English language proficiency standards to successfully enrol in the program.

For students with existing skills and knowledge in building and construction, Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) options may be available. This allows students to complete the course in a reduced timeframe. However, students should be aware that the use of Credit Transfer or RPL may affect their visa and Confirmation of Enrolment (COE). Any course duration reduction as a result of RPL granted/ Credit Transfer to international students will be indicated on the Confirmation of Enrolment if granted prior to the issue of a visa or on PRISMS if granted after the issue of a visa.
